Summer School Struggles?

🏠 ⟩ Summer School Struggles?

Every year, thousands of Albertan students opt to take summer school. Most courses are condensed into a four-week program and offered both in-person and online.

Though it is an efficient means to complete a course, it’s common to have difficulty managing the workload. Continue reading to learn why and how we can help.

What does it require?

It Requires Independent Learning. Most online summer courses are designed to be self-taught. When students are accustomed to having a teacher during the school year, the switch can be jarring. Students might struggle to understand complex topics and often have to wait a few days for help from their teacher.

Learnology’s Solution: At Learnology, our expert tutors teach the course content, tailored to the student’s learning style, so they don’t have to learn it on their own. Students can reach out with homework questions in between lessons, and our tutors answer as quickly as possible.

Students Must Keep a Tight Schedule. Along with independent learning, summer school requires students to keep a close eye on deadlines while maintaining a consistent study schedule. This can be overwhelming and makes due dates easy to miss.

Learnology’s Solution: After every lesson, our tutors create a homework schedule that informs the student what they must complete every day. In addition, we mark down upcoming quizzes and tests, so both parents and students are aware of important dates.

Students Need a Thorough Understanding. Some summer courses remove a bit of content to accommodate the fast pace. However, tests and exams are still detailed and include application-based questions. For students to do well, they need more than surface-level understanding, which is difficult to achieve in such a short time.

Learnology’s Solution: At Learnology, students are encouraged to ask questions, and their knowledge is regularly tested. Tutors are prepared to explain a concept in multiple ways to ensure comprehension and provide in-depth information that may be omitted from the course content.

It Can Be Stressful. Learning a five-month curriculum in four weeks is highly achievable. That doesn’t mean there won’t be any stress along the way. Students can become overwhelmed and anxious, leaving less mental space for their studies.

Learnology’s Solution: Our tutors understand the pressure that comes with courses. We always aim to reduce stress by providing words of encouragement and reassurance, putting tasks into manageable schedules, and helping students meet deadlines.
